Well, I wasn’t too sure what Palin we’d get to see last night at the debate, after the last couple of rocky weeks she’s had; but it looks like the old Sarah Palin, (from way back when we first met her those long five weeks ago), is back! I think both Joe Biden and Sarah Palin did very well; and frankly, I believe the vice-presidential debate was 1,000 percent better than the snoozefest Obama and McCain put on for us last week, in their first debate together.
Considering the position they both were put into last night, they both did remarkably well. Biden had to be careful not to look condescending or patronizing; Palin just had to be herself, and put out strings of coherent statement together, that hadn’t been planted in her head by Republican operatives.
I didn’t watch much of MSNBC’s coverage of the debate but what little I did see was enough! As the debate was about to begin, Chris Matthews was ranting about Palin seemingly not being able or willing to name the magazines and newspapers she reads on a regular basis, in her interview with Katie Couric – as if that really matters in the grand scheme of things. Palin never said she didn’t read any newspapers or magazines – she probably didn’t think naming them was that important. Did Matthews forget Alaska has television and Internet too! It’s cold up there but not stupid! After the debate, Andrea Mitchell was ripping Palin for sidestepping questions, which I don’t think she did a whole lot of, and instead claimed Palin only spouted McCain’s talking points. Hello! Did she watch the Obama/McCain debate? All those two did was repeat lines they both had said one million times before.
Oh well, the last remaining weeks will be a roller coaster I’m sure. Thank goodness it’s almost over!

Too Funny!! Love that sign! I’ll send the link to some of my republican friends (believe it or not I do have quite a few).
I agree they both did very good in the debate. I just don’t like her – but I think you got that idea ;-} I was very impressed with Biden. To me she seems fake – like that down home stuff is an act. Jus a lit’l too much o’ that plain talkin’ for me. It feels like being talked down to. I like the way Obama talks to me like I am smart enough to get it, like I just might be smart enough to understand something complex.
Regarding the bias you saw – I watched PBS and thought they were very fair and balanced even in their analysis afterwards. I happen to listen to tons of talk radio because I’m driving a lot and you would think Obama was Satan himself – Gallager, Limbaugh, Hanady one right after the other all day long. It is just unbelievable. They are talking about him continuously and it is mainly just extreme BS. The only one in that group who I think is fair and honest is O’Reilly. He is an extreme conservative who believes very very different than me but he is honest and respectful of differing opinions and hard but fair. Oh and I guess I should have included Byers in that. Don’t agree much with him either but he does try to be fair.
I completely disagree with “remaking the facts” to fit your political point of view. Even if I agree with that point of view. And if they were that biased against her they don’t do Obama any favors in my opinion.
I agree with you on Hannity and Limbaugh – they make no attempt to be fair but that’s not really their gig! It’s just when people who are supposed to be journalists aren’t professional enough to check their emotions at the door – that’s hard to do sometimes but that’s their job.
I like Sarah Palin. I don’t feel like she’s talking down to me but with me. Actually, to me, Obama just seems so out of touch with regular ol’ people. It’s like he’s up in the clouds with the lightning bolts and rainbows.
It’s funny how we see things so different!
But I do enjoy speaking with people with different views than mine. It doesn’t bother me a bit. If I wanted to listen to someone who agrees with me on everything, I’d talk to myself in the mirror! Of course, I don’t agree with myself 100% of the time either!
Oh yeah, and I have been selling some of those signs and t-shirts with the same message. I’m never sure if it’s Democrats, Republicans or neither buying them – or just people with a weird sense of humor like mine! I’m going to get one for my front yard too.
You know that is so true, we do not all see things the same way or value things exactly the same but I think we enrich this world by our differences and also by our similarities. I grew up in a family that was strong dems on one side and strong reps on the other. In fact my earliest political statement was when my mom sent me into a Republican meeting at my grandparents to tell them “I’m a democrat”
I love my late grandma and she called me every election to tell me she canceled my vote!! Good people CAN see things differently. And that is some of why I support Obama!! From what I know of him I believe he knows that too – from personal experience, like me.
and I talk to myself all the time to and sometime we can’t even agree on when and where to go to lunch
